Kyle Blain Exhibits in London for First Time

At the beginning of 2024, I had the privilege and pleasure of having a piece of my artwork put on display at a top London art gallery.

My painting of a Kendrick Lamar album cover was chosen to feature at the Holy Art Gallery in the UK capital. The painting was on display from Friday, January 12 to Sunday, January 21, and visitors were able to purchase it. I am very thrilled and humbled to say that it sold to an enthusiastic buyer in London!

It felt to me to be significant step in my art career. This was something I have always really wanted to do, It was a really big step for me, I had only visited London once prior to being involved in the show so it was vastly unfamiliar yet exciting.

My piece was selected as part of an open call for artists. I submitted a couple of pieces to them, and they got back to me saying the Kendrick Lamar piece had been handpicked. I was buzzing! This piece was one I had completed in 2022, it was nice to finally get it out there and get some spotlight and attention on it.

“Mr Morale & the Big Steppers” 61x61cm, 2022

The chosen piece was my painting of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, a Kendrick Lamar album released in 2022. The album cover shows Lamar standing with his fiancé and two children, and my painting was my take of the original produced in my signature art style.

I did this painting when the album first came out. Usually, I'm more into indie/rock music, but this album really stuck with me. The cover stood out to me particularly, and I thought it would look great in my style, so I gave it a go.

Inside the exhibition on opening night

It was an amazing experience and such an honor to show my work in London. London's art scene is dynamic and diverse, featuring world-renowned art galleries like the Tate Modern and the National Gallery, alongside numerous smaller galleries and a vibrant street art presence cementing the city's status as a key hub for artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts. It was great to be apart of it and I am excited to experience more of it in the future!
